Malaysians slam Clark Airport Authority

A Malaysian consortium called on top executives of Clark International Airport Corp. to “level the playing field” after its board accepted an “incomplete” and “defective” proposal to expand the Clark airport’s Terminal 2.

“It didn’t seem that there was a leveled playing field,” said Ronnie Gaudiel, Philippine representative of BriSteel Overseas Ventures Inc., referring to the decision of the CIAC board to accept the proposal of Philco Aero Inc.

Gaudiel said BOV was a Malaysian consortium consisting of publicly-listed conglomerates and government-linked corporations that plan to infuse $150 million worth of investments in the Philippines.

BOV in December 2009 submitted a proposal for the development and expansion project of the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport Terminal 2 through a joint venture agreement with CIAC.

Gaudiel said the board favored Philco Aero’s proposal for being “more financially superior.”
